I think you'd be hard pressed to find ANYTHING as good as the XV895HSS at even double the price!
Browsing the aisles at the local Guitar Barn we noticed a $600 line of setneck guitars from a MAJOR MANUFACTURER that were pretty damned good... except for the lame pickups, we thought the quality was excellent for under six Bills.
The 895 feature super highly figured QUILT Maple tops, fully bound- Drop-Tops that follow the contours of the strat body. Solid rosewood fingerboards are also fully bound, as is the non-reverse headstock. We install genuine Graphtech nuts and Hand-Cut them for perfect playability. 24 medium jumbo nickel silver frets are hand installed, hand-levelled and hand-dressed. We even install a fresh set of SIT brand strings at the factory. NO SHORTCUTS.
To give this guitar unbeatable tone we installed a specially tweaked GFS Crunchy Pat pickup in the bridge and the middle and neck from our acclaimed GFS Vintage Alnico Stagger set and a flush mounted three way switch. The power and crunch of the humbucker and the sweet Hendrixey "Strat-Ness" of the singles.I don't think there's a guitar under $600 anywhere that can compete with this axe for pure power and playability.
