The latest from guitar guru Trev Wilkinson- The genuine Wilkinson Wraparound has an 82 mm post spacing and is a perfect fit for many PRS, gibson® and many other guitars that use the classic wraparound single bridge/tailpiece deal.
Here's the fun part- These are beautifully crafted out of beautifully plated FEATHEWEIGHT ALUMINUM-in stunning Black Chrome- Why? By reducing mass at the bridge the guitar takes on a totally different personality- Sure- fat thick brass bridges marginally improve sustain, but at the expense of muddy bass, hollow mids and a brittle high end.
I put one of these on a custom made SG® I have, and the results were dramatic- Instantly the guitar is smoother, richer and has noticeably more BARK in the mids. Around the shop we've been calling it the "Mick Ralphs" bridge, since it lends even the thinnest and nastiest guitars a rich, round RUDE midrange- warm extended bottom and a well controlled- "Vintage" high end- I like it!
Like all genuine Wilkinson products it is beautifully made- from the sliding compensated G/B section, to the beautiful crafted adjustable studs- It's a class act all the way-
